trauma informed

Behind most problematic symptoms often lies trauma. Many people are aware of what is called ‘shock trauma’ or ‘big T’ Trauma, which occurs when one experiences or witnesses a life threatening or violating event. Lesser known is ‘developmental trauma’ or ‘little t’ trauma, which occurs over time throughout childhood, and stems from not getting ones emotional and psychological needs met by their caregivers. Developmental trauma can also include inherited trauma from previous generations. Both types of trauma are stored in the body in the forms of sensations, feelings, and moods or states of being. Often we are not consciously aware of the traumatic memories, beliefs, and thoughts connected to these bodily experiences. In our work together I can help you make sense of your experiences, develop a sense of inner safety, and cultivate an empowered and embodied way of being.


Anxiety

Anxiety is all too common in our fast-paced culture. You may feel hijacked by thoughts, sensations, and behaviors when anxiety takes over. I can help you uncover the underlying causes of your anxiety and learn new ways to manage the uncomfortable experience. I help you connect to and heal the stuck or abandoned ‘parts’ of yourself, who’s unresolved feelings contribute to the sense of anxiety. Learning how to manage anxiety is one of the best things you can do for your health, your relationships, and your career.

Depression

There are various causes of depression, including trauma, genetics, lifestyle, and circumstance. I can help you discover the root causes of your depression, and create a comprehensive and holistic treatment plan to restore your inherent vitality and radiance. We will approach your symptoms from both a bottom up (attending to bodily experiences) and top down (working with the thoughts and mind) approach. Through a non-judgmental and compassionate therapeutic relationship, I will empower you to realize that you are not your depression, but rather it is a visitor that needs attending to.
